Svensk forskning


I Sverige har der været forsket i yoga siden 1998, da MediYoga deltog i det første svenske studie af yoga, et rygstudie, som Karolinska Institutet gennemførte. Siden er der gennemført flere studier i medicinsk yoga i Sverige. Stockholms Universitet sammenlignede yoga med kognitiv terapi hos en bank i Stockholm, Postgiro lod sine ansatte gå til yoga i arbejdstiden og evaluerede derefter træningen, Astra-Zeneca har konstant evalueret medicinsk yoga til deres sygemeldte personale siden 2004.


Danderyds Sjukhus har siden 2007 konstant forsket i medicinsk yoga for diverse hjerteproblemer, såsom hjerteinfarkt og atrieflimren, sammen med MediYoga. Fra januar 2010 har Danderyds Sjukhus brugt medicinsk yoga som en fast del af hjertepatienternes rehabilitering. Karolinska Institutet fortsætter med at forske i yoga for ryggen. Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset i Huddinge forsker i medicinsk yoga mod hjertesvigt, og Danderyd planlægger nye større studier i 2012.
